After a tedious 6 months internship back home, the Boyfriend and I decided to take a short getaway to Langkawi Island. It was a 3 days 2 nights trip.
We booked our flight in the late 2014 and didn't know that the weekend we went was during Malaysia school holiday and also the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2015. LIMA is one of the largest maritime and aerospace exhibition in the Asia-Pacific, so you could imagine the crowd.
We were told that we could get any car rental stall at the airport upon our arrival, but there were no car for us because of the big event. The taxi counter are forced to close because the taxi demand are too high and there were no taxi left. After a long wait, we decided to walk to the road where the entrance to the airport is, and grab a taxi before the reach the taxi station inside the airport. Lucky us, I was so worried that I would stuck at the airport for the rest of the trip.
Checked-in to our hotel in Kuah, and managed to call an agent to rent a car. If you search from the internet, you may get car rental as low as RM50 a day, but due to the big event, we rented a Kia Picanto for RM120 a day.
After settling down, we drove to Cenang Beach and bought two Island Hopping ticket from Your Travel Station (AB Motel). It was the cheapest island hopping package in Langkawi, and they also provide other tours with reasonable price too.
Had our dinner at Sunset Boulevard, just a short distance along the street as AB Motel. They serve Indian, Italian, Mexican and Malay food. I rate this place a 4 over 5. The food is great, the atmosphere is good (there's mosquito), the price are reasonable.

Day two was all about adventures.
In the morning, we drove to AB Motel and got transferred to the jetty to start our island hopping journey.
First stop, Dayang Bunting Island also known as Pregnant Maiden Island/Lake.
Take a 10 mins hike into the Pregnant Maiden Lake. Along the way, there were plenty of monkeys targeting your bags, especially a bag with foods. Avoid bringing plastic bags, hats and sunglasses, the monkeys are very good at snatching.
Once you reach the lake of the pregnant maiden, there's a big pontoon. You can swim or kayaking. There's also kid's pool, this place is kids friendly. There is a stall for life jacket renting.
or you can just sit by the pontoon, soak your feet and enjoy the view. We went kayaking and the price was RM30 with no time limits.
Second stop was to Beras Basah Island.
We didn't do much here except for chilling and taking pictures. Not going to swim because we didn't want to get ourself wet.
After visiting Beras Basah Island, we were sent back to AB Motel.
Had our lunch in random restaurant across AB Motel and then drove all the way to Oriental Village.
Head back to Cenang Beach.
We rented a jetski for RM120 an hour from some random stall here in Cenang Beach. There are quite a number of water sport you could play with, but we could only play one sport since the sun was setting. On Day Three, we drove to Kuah to visit the Langkawi Eagle Square.
This is the tourist attraction but other than this huge eagle, there's nothing much to do here. We have so much spare time that we went to the nearest cinema and caught a movie. Then, we returned the car and went to the airport.
Note: When you rent a car in Langkawi, make sure to pick it up from the airport and return it back from the airport as well. If not, you need to pay extra fee for them to send you to the airport from the location you pick up your car. For my case, I got my car picked up from my hotel and they refuse to pick up the car from the airport. We paid extra RM28 to go to the airport from our hotel.
