In early September, the boyfriend and I travelled to Maldive for a 6D5N budget summer vacation.
It was raining everyday for 2 weeks before my flight to Maldives and I was lucky enough that it had only rained one afternoon during my stay. It was not a good idea to travel to Maldives in September as the monsoon runs from May to October. The best time to travel to Maldives is between November to April. I wasn't aware of the monsoon season before I got my tickets.
Anyway, here is my summarized 6 days 5 night Maldives travelogue.
Day 00: Departing Malaysia - Arriving Maldives
I spent the first day travelling from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Lumpur to Maldives. After flying for 4hr 15m from KLIA2, we arrived Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (a.k.a. Malé International Airport) at 8.10pm Maldivian time. However, getting through the immigration took quite some time as AirAsia did not provide Declaration Card on board.
We met up with our Maldivian friends, Iuthi and Thol, outside the arrival hall. On the way to the ferry pier to Malé, we picked up local SIM card. There are two cell operators in Maldives, I recommend using Dhiraagu because my friends said so. A prepaid connection kit cost MVR30 and a 2GB data package cost an extra MVR199 which valid for 30 days.
We took a 10 minutes ferry ride from the airport to Malé city, the ticket cost MVR10. Upon arrival, we took taxi to our friend's place and the taxi fare cost MVR25. We spent the night in Malé City and will be heading off to Maafushi Island the next day.

Day 05: Malé Fish Market - Leaving Maldives
Was dreaded to go anyway on our last day, made a visit to the local fish market to buy souvenir, went back to my friend's place to pack and spent our day away playing PS4.
Left Malé to the airport in the evening, had one last meal and head off, back to Malaysia.
